Curriculum Overview

At The Greetland Academy we believe that a high-quality history education should provide opportunities for pupils to gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It engages, inspires and challenges pupils, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and understanding to analyse, appraise and critically evaluate historical events, people and periods.

Whilst Geography and History are two discrete subjects within the National Curriculum; at The Greetland Academy our tailored curriculum creates opportunities to deliver these topics on a complimentary level. Each Year Groups delivery begins with Geography and follows with a History link to embed knowledge and improve understanding. For example, The Year One programme of study looks at a comparative study between Greetland and Dorset, then flows onto the History link of Mary Anning who was from Dorset.
